About Saint Walburga
Walburga, born in Anglo-Saxon England around 710, was educated at Wimborne and joined the missionary work of her brothers Willibald and Winebald in Germany. She led the women’s community at Heidenheim and, after Winebald’s death, its double monastery. Her learning, leadership, and healing reputation shaped generations of Benedictine devotion.
Prayer
Pray with Saint Walburga
God of missionary courage, you led Saint Walburga from her homeland to teach and guide communities in Germany. Through her intercession, bless women in leadership, sustain those serving far from home, and make our monasteries and parishes schools of wisdom and mercy. Amen.
