About Saint Ursula
Ursula has been venerated for centuries as a virgin martyr associated with Cologne, but the famous story of eleven thousand companions developed from later legend and cannot be treated as history. An ancient inscription supports early local remembrance of martyred Christian women. Ursula’s enduring devotion honors women whose names were lost but whose fidelity was not.
