About Saint Cornelius the Centurion
Acts describes Cornelius as a Roman centurion in Caesarea who feared God, gave alms, and prayed constantly. Guided by an angel, he welcomed Peter just as Peter was learning that God shows no partiality. The Holy Spirit came upon Cornelius’s household before baptism, making this encounter a decisive opening of the Church’s mission to Gentiles.
