About Saint Stephen the Protomartyr
Acts names Stephen among seven servants chosen to ensure fair care for Greek-speaking widows in Jerusalem. Full of grace and power, he proclaimed Israel’s story and challenged resistance to the Holy Spirit. As he was stoned, Stephen saw Christ in glory and prayed forgiveness for his killers, becoming the Church’s first recorded martyr.

Lord Jesus, through Saint Stephen’s intercession, make our service fair, our witness truthful, and our hearts free from revenge. Strengthen deacons and persecuted Christians, and give enemies the grace that transformed Saul. Amen.
