About Saint John the Evangelist
John, son of Zebedee and brother of James, was among Jesus’s first disciples and witnessed the Transfiguration, Last Supper, and agony in Gethsemane. Christian tradition closely associates him with the Fourth Gospel, three letters, and care for Mary after the Crucifixion. His writings contemplate the Word made flesh and insist that genuine knowledge of God becomes love.
