About Saint Stephen of Hungary
Stephen became Hungary’s first Christian king around the year 1000. Working with Queen Gisela, he established dioceses, supported monasteries, and organized a kingdom shaped by Western Christianity. His laws also reveal the severity of medieval state-building. After the death of his son Emeric, Stephen entrusted his people to Mary’s care.
