About Saint Simeon of Jerusalem
Simeon is remembered by early Church historians as a relative of Jesus and successor to James as leader of the Jerusalem church. Tradition says he guided Christians during the upheaval surrounding Jerusalem’s destruction and was crucified at an advanced age under Emperor Trajan. Exact chronology and many details remain uncertain.

God of our ancestors and our future, you sustained the Jerusalem church through the leadership remembered in Saint Simeon. Through his intercession, preserve Christians in the Holy Land, grant wisdom to elderly believers, and make us faithful through upheaval. Amen.
