About Saint Mesrop Mashtots
Mesrop Mashtots, born around 362 in Armenia, served as a court official before becoming a monk, priest, missionary, and teacher. With the support of Catholicos Sahak, he created the Armenian alphabet around 405, enabling Scripture, liturgy, and learning to flourish in Armenian. His schools helped secure a distinct Christian literary culture.
