About Saint Severinus of Noricum
Severinus appeared along the Danube frontier in the fifth century as Roman authority in Noricum was collapsing. Living as an ascetic, he founded monasteries, negotiated with Germanic rulers, ransomed captives, distributed food, and urged endangered communities to relocate. His life, recorded soon after his death in 482, reveals holiness amid political disintegration.
