About Saint Raymond of Penyafort
Raymond, born near Barcelona around 1175, became a Dominican friar, papal chaplain, and master of canon law. He compiled Gregory IX’s Decretals, guided confessors in pastoral judgment, and served briefly as master general of the Dominicans. Tradition also associates him with the early Mercedarians and missionary dialogue with Muslims and Jews.
