About Saint Rupert of Salzburg
Rupert, active around the turn of the eighth century, was a Frankish bishop who accepted Duke Theodo’s invitation to renew Christian life in Bavaria. He established his center at Salzburg, founded Saint Peter’s monastery, and supported the women’s community at Nonnberg led by his relative Erentrude. His mission helped shape the region’s enduring Church.
