About Saint Guntram of Burgundy
Guntram, a sixth-century Merovingian king ruling Burgundy and Orléans, lived amid violent family conflict and warfare. Gregory of Tours nevertheless portrays him as increasingly penitent, generous to the poor, protective of the Church, and willing to forgive conspirators. His later reign included efforts at peace and public relief during plague and famine.
