About Saint Margaret Clitherow
Margaret Clitherow, born in York in 1556, was a wife, mother, and convert to Catholicism who sheltered priests and enabled clandestine Masses during persecution. Arrested in 1586, she refused to enter a plea so her children and servants would not be forced to testify. She was pressed to death and is honored as a martyr.
