About Saint Romuald
Romuald was born into a noble family in tenth-century Ravenna and turned toward monastic penance after witnessing his father kill a relative. He traveled through Italy reforming monasteries and establishing hermit communities. His foundation at Camaldoli shaped the Camaldolese tradition, which unites Benedictine community life with eremitical solitude.
