About Saint Romanus of Condat
Romanus, born around 390 in Roman Gaul, left family life for solitude in the Jura Mountains. His brother Lupicinus joined him, and the disciples who gathered around them formed monasteries, including Condat, later Saint-Claude. Romanus was known for gentleness, hospitality, and a form of monastic life adapted to the harsh forested region.
