About Saint Peter of Verona
Peter, born in Verona around 1205, entered the newly founded Dominican Order and became an effective preacher against Cathar teaching in northern Italy. He also served as an inquisitor, a role embedded in the coercive religious structures of his age. Ambushed and killed in 1252, he prayed for his attackers and was canonized the following year.
