About Saint Peter Claver
Peter Claver was a Spanish Jesuit priest who ministered for four decades at Cartagena, Colombia, a major port in the transatlantic slave trade. He boarded arriving ships with food and medicine, cared for enslaved Africans, learned through interpreters, and defended their human dignity. He called himself the slave of the Africans forever.
