About Saint Oswald of Northumbria
Oswald regained the Northumbrian throne in 634 after exile among Christians of Iona. He invited the monk Aidan to evangelize his kingdom and reportedly interpreted Aidan’s Irish preaching for his people. Oswald supported Lindisfarne and care for the poor before being killed in battle against King Penda at Maserfield in 642.
