About Pope Saint Hormisdas
Hormisdas served as bishop of Rome from 514 to 523. A widower and father before ordination, he later became the father of Pope Silverius. His careful diplomacy and profession of faith, known as the Formula of Hormisdas, helped restore communion between Rome and Constantinople in 519 after the long Acacian schism.
