About Saint Norbert of Xanten
Norbert was a twelfth-century German cleric whose conversion led him from a comfortable courtly life into poverty and itinerant preaching. At Prémontré in France he founded the Premonstratensian canons, combining common prayer with pastoral ministry. As archbishop of Magdeburg, he worked to reform clergy and heal divisions in the Church.
