About Saint Nicholas of Flüe
Nicholas, born in 1417, was a Swiss farmer, soldier, magistrate, husband, and father of ten. With his wife Dorothea’s consent, he later withdrew to a hermitage in the Ranft gorge for prayer and counsel. His mediation helped avert civil conflict at Stans in 1481, making Brother Klaus a lasting patron of Swiss peace.
