About Saint Medard
Medard was a late fifth- and early sixth-century bishop in northern Frankish Gaul, associated with Noyon and Tournai. He was remembered as a charitable pastor during a period of political change and as a supporter of consecrated virginity. Later folklore connected his feast with weather and an eagle sheltering him from rain.
