About Saint Maximilian Kolbe
Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Conventual Franciscan priest who used print and radio to spread devotion to Mary and founded communities in Poland and Japan. Arrested by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz, he volunteered to die in place of Franciszek Gajowniczek, a fellow prisoner with a family, in 1941.
