About Saint Hippolytus of Rome
Hippolytus is associated with an important body of early Christian theology, although scholars debate which writings and stories belong to the same person. A longstanding reconstruction remembers a rigorous Roman priest who opposed Pope Callistus, led a schism, then reconciled with Pope Pontian during exile in Sardinia, where both died around 235.
