About Saint Matilda of Ringelheim

Matilda, born around 895, became queen through marriage to Henry the Fowler and mother of Otto I. She founded and supported monasteries, cared for the poor, and interceded for prisoners. After her husband’s death, family conflict and accusations over her generosity tested her, but reconciliation followed. She spent her final years serving religious communities.
