About Saint Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows
Our Lady of Sorrows contemplates Mary’s faithful union with Jesus through suffering: Simeon’s prophecy, flight into Egypt, loss of the child Jesus, meeting on Calvary, the Crucifixion, the taking down of his body, and burial. The devotion does not glorify pain; it honors love that remains present and hopeful beside those who suffer.

God of compassion, you gave Mary strength to stand beside the cross. Through Our Lady of Sorrows’ intercession, remain close to every grieving heart, teach us not to flee another’s pain, and lead all suffering toward resurrection. Amen.
