About Saint Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes
In 1858, the Virgin Mary appeared eighteen times to Bernadette Soubirous at the Massabielle grotto near Lourdes, France. Calling herself the Immaculate Conception, she summoned people to prayer and penance and directed Bernadette to a spring. Lourdes became a major pilgrimage place marked by reconciliation, care for the sick, and hope.

God of mercy, at Lourdes you used Mary’s humble presence to call your children toward Christ, repentance, and compassionate care. Through her intercession, comfort the sick, strengthen caregivers and pilgrims, and cleanse our hearts in the living water of your grace. Amen.
