About Saint Mary (Immaculate Conception)
The Immaculate Conception celebrates God’s grace preserving Mary from original sin from the first moment of her conception, in view of Christ’s saving work. It concerns Mary’s beginning, not the virginal conception of Jesus. Defined as dogma in 1854, the feast proclaims that salvation is entirely God’s gift and that grace can prepare genuine human freedom.

God of saving grace, you prepared Mary to be the mother of your Son. Through her intercession, free us from sin, heal what is divided within us, and help us answer your gifts with wholehearted freedom. Amen.
