About Saint Martin of Tours
Martin was a Roman cavalryman in Gaul when he cut his cloak to share it with a poorly clothed beggar, then saw Christ wearing the garment in a dream. After baptism he became a monk, missionary, and reluctant bishop of Tours. He challenged pagan practices, defended prisoners, and continued a simple communal life despite episcopal office.

God hidden in our neighbor, through Saint Martin’s intercession, help us share promptly with anyone in need. Guide soldiers toward peace, bishops toward simplicity, and all Christians to recognize Christ in the cold and forgotten. Amen.
