About Saint Magdalene of Canossa
Magdalene of Canossa, born into Veronese nobility in 1774, discerned her vocation amid family responsibilities and Napoleonic upheaval. She opened a house where women served and educated poor girls, beginning the Canossian Daughters of Charity. Her work expanded to schools, hospitals, catechesis, retreats, and formation of lay teachers before her death in 1835.
