About Saint Stanislaus of Kraków

Stanislaus, born around 1030, became bishop of Kraków and entered a severe conflict with King Bolesław II. Later accounts say the bishop rebuked royal injustice and was killed by the king or his agents at Skałka in 1079. Because early sources differ about the conflict’s causes, exact circumstances remain debated; his cult became a symbol of moral resistance.
