About Saint Louis IX of France
Louis IX governed thirteenth-century France with serious attention to prayer, justice, arbitration, and personal care for people in poverty. He built Sainte-Chapelle to house relics of Christ’s Passion. Louis also led two crusades, campaigns marked by religious zeal, warfare, and suffering, and died near Tunis during the second in 1270.
