About Saint Bartholomew the Apostle
Bartholomew appears in the Gospel lists among Jesus’ Twelve Apostles and is traditionally identified with Nathanael, though Scripture does not explicitly make that connection. Ancient traditions send his missionary witness eastward, including Armenia and India. Accounts of his martyrdom vary, but the flaying knife became his best-known artistic attribute.
