About Saint Josephine Bakhita

Josephine Bakhita was born in Darfur around 1869, kidnapped as a child, enslaved, and sold repeatedly before being taken to Italy. A court recognized her freedom, and she entered the Canossian Sisters, serving in Schio with gentleness until 1947. She forgave her captors and testified that God had restored her dignity and hope.
