About Saint John Ogilvie

John Ogilvie, born in Scotland in 1579, became Catholic while studying in continental Europe and entered the Jesuits. Ordained a priest, he returned secretly to minister to Scotland’s small Catholic community. Arrested in Glasgow, tortured, and executed in 1615 for rejecting royal authority over the Church’s spiritual life, he forgave his accusers.
