About Saint John of Matha

John of Matha was a French priest who, with Felix of Valois, founded the Order of the Most Holy Trinity around 1198. The Trinitarians combined common prayer with collecting funds to ransom Christian captives in lands around the Mediterranean. Their distinctive mission made the Trinity’s self-giving love visible through dangerous, organized work for human freedom.
