About Saint Adelaide of Burgundy

Adelaide was a tenth-century queen and empress whose life included widowhood, imprisonment, escape, remarriage to Otto I, and major political responsibility in the emerging Holy Roman Empire. She supported monasteries, church reform, and generous relief for the poor, later serving as regent. In her final years she withdrew increasingly toward prayer at foundations she had encouraged.

Pray with Saint Adelaide of Burgundy

God of providence, through Saint Adelaide’s intercession, strengthen widows, prisoners, and women carrying public responsibility. Turn political influence toward peace and generosity, and teach us to release power gracefully when our season changes. Amen.
