About Saint John of Capistrano
John of Capistrano left a legal and political career after imprisonment prompted conversion, entering the Franciscans in fifteenth-century Italy. He became an energetic reformer and traveling preacher across Europe, and at old age supported the defense of Belgrade against Ottoman attack. Some polemical campaigns associated with him also harmed Jewish communities and require honest remembrance.
