About Saint Anthony Mary Claret
Anthony Mary Claret was a Catalan priest and tireless popular missionary who founded the Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Claretians. As archbishop of Santiago de Cuba he promoted education, social reform, and pastoral visitation while surviving opposition and an assassination attempt. Later he served the Spanish court yet continued publishing and preaching widely.
