About Saint Januarius
Januarius is honored as an early fourth-century bishop of Benevento who was martyred near Naples during the persecution of Diocletian. Historical records are limited, while later narratives describe his companions and death. Naples has long revered a relic of his blood, whose periodic liquefaction remains a beloved sign of civic prayer and hope.
