About Saint Hilary of Poitiers

Hilary, born around 310 in Roman Gaul, embraced Christianity as an adult and became bishop of Poitiers. Exiled to Phrygia for opposing Arian teaching, he studied Greek theology and defended Christ’s full divinity in his work On the Trinity. His learning and courageous pastoral leadership earned him recognition as a Doctor of the Church.

Pray with Saint Hilary of Poitiers

God of truth, you strengthened Saint Hilary to confess your Son’s divinity despite exile and opposition. Through his intercession, give us patient understanding, brave speech, and charity toward those with whom we disagree, so that our witness may serve unity. Amen.
