About Saint Germanus of Capua
Germanus was a sixth-century bishop of Capua chosen as a papal legate to Constantinople. His mission helped end the Acacian Schism in 519, restoring communion between Rome and Constantinople after decades of division. Gregory the Great later preserved a tradition linking Germanus with Benedict, and southern Italy remembered him as a wise peacemaker.
