About Saint George

George was an early Christian martyr whose shrine at Lydda in Palestine was honored by the fourth century. Reliable biographical details are limited, though tradition identifies him as a soldier killed under Diocletian. The much later story of George defeating a dragon became a vivid symbol of faith overcoming evil and protecting the vulnerable.

Prayer

Pray with Saint George

God of victorious love, you are praised in the ancient witness of Saint George. Through his intercession, strengthen Christians facing persecution, protect soldiers from cruelty, defend vulnerable people, and give us courage to resist evil without becoming evil ourselves. Amen.
