About Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini
Frances Cabrini founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Italy and hoped to serve in China, but Pope Leo XIII directed her toward Italian immigrants in the Americas. She crossed the Atlantic repeatedly, establishing schools, orphanages, and hospitals despite fragile health. Becoming a United States citizen, she was the first U.S. citizen canonized.
