About Saint Cyril of Alexandria

Cyril was fifth-century patriarch of Alexandria, biblical commentator, and major theologian of Christ’s unity as divine and human. He opposed Nestorius and played a decisive, forceful role at the Council of Ephesus, which upheld Mary as Theotokos, God-bearer. His long episcopate unfolded amid severe doctrinal and civic conflict.
