About Saint Claude de la Colombière
Claude de la Colombière, born in France in 1641, was a Jesuit priest, preacher, and spiritual director. At Paray-le-Monial he recognized and supported Margaret Mary Alacoque’s mission concerning devotion to the Sacred Heart. While chaplain in England he was falsely implicated in the Popish Plot, imprisoned, and returned to France in broken health.

God of the loving Heart of Jesus, you gave Saint Claude discernment, fidelity, and courage under false accusation. Through his intercession, guide spiritual directors, strengthen those unjustly imprisoned, and teach us confident trust in Christ’s merciful love. Amen.
