About Saint Catherine of Siena
Catherine, born in Siena in 1347, became a Dominican tertiary devoted to prayer and service of the sick and poor. Through hundreds of letters she urged repentance, peace among Italian cities, Church reform, and Pope Gregory XI’s return from Avignon to Rome. Her Dialogue reveals a profound mystical theology; she is a Doctor of the Church.
