About Saint Botolph
Botolph was a seventh-century Anglo-Saxon abbot known from a near-contemporary reference as a learned and holy monastic leader. He founded a monastery around 654 at Icanho, commonly identified with Iken in Suffolk, though later biographies add uncertain detail. Numerous English church dedications testify to the reach of his medieval veneration.
