About Saint Blaise
Blaise is honored as a bishop and martyr of Sebaste in Armenia, probably killed during early fourth-century persecution. Historical details are sparse, while later tradition remembers his care for the sick and his rescue of a choking child. The Church’s blessing of throats with crossed candles preserves that association with healing.
