Catherine de’ Ricci, born in Florence in 1522, entered the Dominican convent of San Vincenzo in Prato and eventually served as prioress. She combined capable community leadership with intense contemplation of Christ’s Passion. Her spiritual counsel reached laypeople and Church leaders through many letters, and witnesses reported extraordinary mystical experiences during her life.
